This Casio Loopy Port of DOOM Can Print the Game Screen as a Sticker

Casio's 1995 Loopy game console includes a built-in thermal sticker printer for printing images from games. Throaty Mumbo's LoopyDOOM port makes that unusual hardware feature available to DOOM too: an option in the menu prints the current game frame.

DOOM itself runs on the real 16 MHz SH-1 hardware with roughly 512 KB of RAM at around 8–15 fps. Running DOOM on odd hardware is already a familiar challenge; this port goes a step further and treats the console's printer as a feature DOOM ought to support too.

Getting DOOM running was already enough, but then the port noticed the console had a printer and decided DOOM needed screenshot printing too.

The Vomit Comic Robot Literally Spits Randomly Generated Comics from Its Mouth

Press a button and the Vomit Comic Robot generates a one-off random comic and spits it from its mouth on receipt paper. Created by Cadin Batrack, the machine combines a Raspberry Pi, a thermal printer and a laser-cut plywood body. Processing software arranges hand-drawn elements into comic panels at random. There is no intended narrative relationship between the images, but the comic layout encourages people to invent one anyway. Even the physical output mechanism reinforces the joke: the robot appears to vomit nonsense comics on demand.

ファニトロちゃん:悪だくみ

A thermal printer would have worked, but giving the output a robot body and calling it vomiting makes the interface impossible to ignore.
