A Vibrating Playing Card Sticks to the Ceiling Without Glue or a Suction Cup

A playing card fitted with a small vibration motor can remain attached to a ceiling without glue or a suction cup.

As the flexible card vibrates, air is pushed out of the tiny gap between it and the rigid surface, lowering the pressure and creating adhesion. Steve Mould also experiments with larger vibrating setups, reaching loads of several tens of kilograms.

Instead of gluing something to the ceiling, the solution is to keep it vibrating. Gravity gets its job back the moment the shaking stops.
